Lansing MI Elections

Vote at Home (Absentee)

All registered voters in Michigan can vote before Election Day using what’s called an absentee ballot. You don’t need an excuse or a reason. You can vote by absentee ballot through the mail, without ever having to leave your home.

An application is required in order to receive an absentee ballot. Applications for absentee ballots will be available 75 days before every election. Once your application is received by our office we will mail your absentee ballot to you. You then need to return your absentee ballot by 8:00 PM on Election Day in order for your vote to be counted.

Request an Absentee Ballot

Registered voters with a Michigan ID can request an absentee ballot online using the absentee voter request form.

Registered voters can also print, complete, and sign an absentee ballot application and return it to the clerk’s office by mail, email, fax, dropbox, or in person.

You can use either form to be added to the NEW Permanent Ballot List. Never miss an election as a ballot will automatically be mailed to you for every election.

If easier or in a rush, visit our office for an Absentee Ballot. Starting Thursday, Sept 28, we have two locations available (South Washington and City Hall ). You can also vote your ballot all in one-stop. Completed absentee ballots are locked up and open on Election Day. Learn more about voting at home by visiting the Michigan Voter Information Center.
